Joachim Lai–Saturday Watercolour Demonstration

Joachim was born in Malaysia and migrated to Australia in 1980. He trained as a High School Geography teacher and taught High School Geography , English and Art for 10 years in Malaysia and also at various High Schools in Australia before retiring from full time teaching in May 2007

He completed an American correspondence Fine Arts Painting course from Famous Artists School in the 1970’s. He painted in acrylics before switching to watercolour in 1988 and has sold more than 300 paintings

He has demonstrated watercolour painting at a number of art societies including Parramatta, Macquarie Towns, Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill, Drummoyne, Ryde and Holroyd art societies

He has participated in group exhibitions at Windsor Attic Gallery 3 times and has been represented by Dural Galleries since 1988.

He has won various art society awards including first prize in Watercolour at Baulkham Hills Art Society and received Highly Commended awards many times. He has had a painting published in the Australian Artist Magazine

He currently teaches watercolour painting at the Castle Hill Art Society studio

Joachim’s demonstration will take place in our studio, 129 Henry Street ( entrance off Station Street) at 2.00pm after the NAS Committee meeting which starts at 1.00pm. Cost $5 for members; $7 for non-members
