In 2009 after having some time to experiment with the pencils I already owned I asked for paints for my birthday. My Mum, Gwen Chalmers was an inspiration to me and taught me her favorite top tips from her thirty years of oil painting experience. I then attended weekly class with Maree Sprout at Dural Art studio. A few Plein Air seminars with Kasey Sealy have really helped me along the way with the oils. When my Mum passed away two years ago I found among her art stash a little pack of water colour paints and couldn’t resist having a dabble. Currently I love attending Joe Cartwright’s water colour class and the Nepean Plein Air outings are a highlight.
Childhood family camping trips in Queensland and sketching down the creek at school gave me a wonderful appreciation of the Australian bush. Some of my favourite subjects to paint are landscapes, trees and animals.
