I have been drawing and painting all of my life and teaching adults and children for the past 15 years. I teach adults from my home studio and also teach the children’s classes at the
Society, both these pursuits keep me on my toes artistically and I love it.
I grew up in a creative environment, my eldest brother is a well known artist and my youngest an accomplished musician, my Dad loved to sing. As children our spare time was spent following our artistic pursuits both individually and as a family and playing in the bushland around North Rocks in Sydney, where I grew up. I think it was during this time I developed my interest in animals, birds and flowers. I love all styles of painting and in the past painted mostly in acrylic and watercolour however over the last few years I have rediscovered the joys of oil paint. I love the intensity of the colours and there’s something about that luscious buttery texture and the way the brush glides through the paint creating glorious soft blends that thrills and inspires me.
I mostly paint flowers, birds and animals and sometimes landscapes. I paint with music blaring, my dog and a cup of tea at my side and I’m sure if I caught sight of myself I’d see a great big happy smile on my face.
