Our August demonstrator is CASS Artist of the Year Julie Simmons. Julie’s first love is watercolour though she also paints in many other mediums including, oils, pen and wash, and charcoal.

Julie has won many first prizes and best in show awards for her work. Julie works from her studio at Castlereagh and on painting trips around the country.

Her quote about watercolour painting says it all: “The thrill of starting a new picture, that fresh piece of paper and then the adrenalin rush when the first wash goes on and you know you have to continue and get the pigment consistency right, the tonal values right, the shapes right and the overall look of the painting to be pleasing to draw people in for another look sustains me. I guess I paint for myself and if others enjoy what I have put on paper then that is the best one can ask for.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to see Julie at work by coming to her demonstration on the 12th August 2013.

The meeting starts at 7:00 pm with the demonstration starting at 7:15 pm. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for non members. The venue is the Nepean Art Society Studio at the Old Council Chambers, Station street entrance, Penrith.
