I was born in 1951 in Hong Kong and immigrated to Australia in 1977. I worked as a registered nurse in maternity and aged care for 24 years. In 1980 I became interested in craft and other art forms including oil painting, watercolour, pottery, calligraphy and Chinese painting. After retiring as a nurse in 2001 I continued my studies in art and graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2005.
I joined the NAS in 2007 and continued my studies in Oil painting for landscape, and portraiture. I also started participating in their exhibitions. My perception of art become strongest after I retired from nursing. Imitation of nature, the bird , the flower, the house and the influence of my Hong Kong Colonial background and Chinese upbringing have all played a part in my artistic development. Hans Heysen is my influence in water color painting. Frank Hodgert, Joe Cartwright are my art teachers. John Andrews is my best friend.
