I enjoyed drawing and painting at school and during my working life decided to take it up on retirement.
In 2007 I retired then enrolled into a short art course at the Penrith Community College and through the Nepean Art Society, took lessons from Joe Cartwright and Frank Hodgert.
Joe’s lessons quickly helped me gain some understanding of colour, tone and perspective, as well as many techniques of watercolour. I am now enjoying painting and exhibiting my works in local shows and as opportunity arises, attending workshops to further my skills. I have since attended workshops tutored by Julie Simmons, Ross Patterson, Charles Sluga, Jackie Pearson, Lorraine Lewitzka and Malcom Carver.
I concentrated on watercolour until 2011, then after some time trying acrylics I settled on painting with water mixable Oils as my second string. I favour Winsor Newton Artisan for oil and Daniel Smith artist quality watercolours on Arches 300gsm NOT paper.
I have selected nine of my paintings to give an impression of my work over the time. My blog at http://chrispzart.blogspot.com.au/ may also be of interest.
