Angelika will be our guest artist for our meeting on Saturday,10 October 2015
Angelika studied painting, drawing, sculpture and ceramics at TAFE in Adelaide, majoring in Life Drawing.
She was then offered a position teaching for TAFE and also began teaching privately. Since 1983 she has won numerous prizes in painting and drawing.
In Adelaide she established herself as a portrait artist and in1993 entered the Archibald Prize and won the Packer’s Award.
She relocated to Sydney in 1995.
She still paints portraits but now her work covers a range of subjects and media and is a modern contemporary style. She loves to explore colour and texture, sometimes incorporating paper collage to create interest. It introduces a pattern that is well- defined and contrasting. Some of her work is now very abstract.
Her mixed media technique on paper consists of watercolours, gouache, oil pastels, inks and collage. She also likes to work on canvas with acrylics, and occasionally in oils.
She gets inspiration from her travels and her environment and has taken groups on workshops in the Greek Islands and Italy, and also has travelled and painted within Australia.
She has been teaching painting and drawing at the Castle Hill Art Society since 1997, and has had many group exhibitions and a several Solo Exhibitions.
Angelika’s demonstration will take place in our studio, 129 Henry Street (entrance off Station Street) on Saturday 10 October at 2.00PM immediately following our NAS committee meeting. The cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Members are invited to attend the committee meeting which starts at 1.00PM
